What is IVF treatment?
In-vitro fertilisation (IVF) is an assisted reproductive technique in which eggs are fertilised with sperm in a laboratory. Embryos may subsequently be transferred to the uterus, depending on the treatment plan.
What is the difference between IVF and ICSI?
In conventional IVF, eggs and sperm are placed together for fertilisation. In ICSI, an embryologist injects a single sperm into an egg. The appropriate approach depends on the clinical assessment.
When should a couple seek an infertility evaluation?
Evaluation is commonly advised after 12 months of trying to conceive when the female partner is under 35, or after 6 months at age 35 or older. Earlier assessment may be appropriate when there are known risk factors or medical concerns.
